Its about 9:30 p.m. on a Sunday night and it’s starting to sink in that come next semester, my Sunday nights will be spent writing this column as the photo editor of the Spartan Daily.

And I can tell you that I am totally stoked.

The long nights and tight deadlines, along with the daily duties that come with job will be stressful. Everyone keeps asking me if my hair will turn gray, a trend that has seemed to come over some of the editors of the Daily. I can promise you my hair will not turn gray and yes, the job will be stressful but we have some good things planned.

I know that many late nights and early mornings will be spent at this desk instead of my bed, and I will end up canoodling with my key board instead of my pillow. I have a feeling that I will develop a coffee habit that will turn into a coffee addiction and eventually I just might put an espresso machine right next to my computer. Nonetheless, I can’t help but feel like this is a great move for myself and I know that I can handle the heat.

I follow in the footsteps of some exceptional photo editors. In the two years I have been here, I have seen the visuals in the paper get better and better. I have enjoyed the new photo blog and multimedia pieces that have accompanied it. But it’s my goal to make that all better.

I look forward to the challenges of next semester. I look forward to improving the photo blog. I look forward to encouraging our photojournalist to be better journalist. I look forward to having a name for this column (by the way, if you have any ideas for names be sure to pass them along).

I look forward to denying my gray hair, as I treat my inevitable coffee addiction at 3 a.m. while trying to figure out what to write in the is blog.

I can’t wait.
